On September 14, 2026, our journey in Langkah Membumi, an environmental competition by Blibli, officially began. It all started when Ci Wenny, Head of Student Support Office (SSO) BINUS @Bekasi, offered us the opportunity to participate in this competition. What initially seemed like a simple challenge soon became a meaningful experience that taught us about teamwork, responsibility, and the importance of protecting our environment.
Representing BINUS @Bekasi, the five of us, Michelle, Tyara, Calista, Vianca, and Fianda, formed a team called The Green Sorters. Our team name represents our commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable environment through proper waste sorting. “Green” symbolizes environmental awareness and sustainability, while “Sorters” reflects our mission to encourage people to separate their waste according to its category: organic, inorganic, and residual waste. Through this initiative, we hoped to inspire the BINUS @Bekasi community to adopt more responsible waste disposal habits. The competition involved four other campuses, with the winner determined by which campus could collect the highest amount of properly sorted waste.

Throughout the competition, waste collected on campus was weighed weekly by the Langkah Membumi team to evaluate each campus’s progress. This meant that our efforts had to go beyond simply reminding students to use the correct bins. We needed to build awareness and encourage the BINUS @Bekasi community to make waste sorting a consistent habit in their daily lives. To support this mission, we actively created educational content through our Instagram account, @thegreensorters. We produced a total of four pieces of content to inform and encourage students to sort their waste properly. Through these posts, we hoped to make environmental awareness more accessible and show that small actions, when practiced consistently, can create a meaningful impact.
Besides creating digital content, we also took action directly on campus. During the second and third weeks of the competition, we helped sort waste into the appropriate categories and encouraged students to pay closer attention to where they disposed of their trash. These hands-on activities allowed us to contribute directly to the competition while reminding us that environmental change begins with individual choices. As the final week approached, our hard work and collective efforts finally paid off. Alhamdulillah, The Green Sorters proudly secured first place in Langkah Membumi 2026! Winning the competition was an unforgettable moment for all five of us. It was not only a recognition of our efforts but also proof that collaboration and consistent action can make a real difference in creating a more environmentally conscious campus.

However, this achievement would not have been possible without the guidance and support of the SSO team. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ci Wenny, Mr. Sigit, Kak Anggi, Kak Novi, and Kak Badar for their encouragement, assistance, and trust throughout our journey. Their support played a significant role in helping us navigate the competition, overcome challenges, and give our best until the very end.
For us, Langkah Membumi was more than just a competition. It was an opportunity to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a cause that matters. We learned that creating environmental awareness requires more than information. It takes consistency, teamwork, and the willingness to take action. Most importantly, we realized that meaningful change can begin with something as simple as putting our waste in the right bin.

Our journey with Langkah Membumi 2026 may have come to an end, but the values and habits we developed will continue beyond the competition. As The Green Sorters, we hope our efforts inspire more students to take responsibility for their waste and become part of a more sustainable future.
