Cue the Fun: Sports Weekend I Billiard Match from BSSC, Lights Up BINUS Square!

On May 16, 2025, the Self-Development Division of BSSC successfully held the event of BSSC Billiard Fun Match, being part of the 1st Sports Weekend Event. At the Games Area of BINUS Square, this event aimed to foster stronger bonds among boarders through a fun yet competitive game. Before the event started, we began with briefing which is started at 08.45, precisely in the secretary’s room, and after that we immediately went to the location and welcomed the participants, to fill the entry ticket/re-register, the event started quite a little bit slow and poorly and the MC opening is late, but fortunately in the middle of the event, everything started to run smoothly and under control, from the matches, gift-giving to the champions, final documentation, exit ticket registration, and closing.
A nine-ball billiards tournament was held, following the international standards using numerically ordered balls 1 through 9 and the cue ball. The players had to aim to hit the number 1 ball first when shooting and intend to lawfully sink the final ball, number 9. Making a foul allowed the other player to place the cue ball anywhere on the table. The first two rounds and the semifinal were decided by a single game. The grand final was played in a round-robin format. Where three remaining players have to compete with each other. On the grand finale, the participants were given first place if they can win 2 consecutive rounds, if they win 1 time and lose 1 time, they placed second, and if they lose 2 times third place. All matches were contested in a best-of-1 series to provide a thrilling finish to the tournament.
The goal of the event was to engage boarders in a fun and competitive nine-ball billiards tournament that fosters active participation, strengthens relationships among borders, and lits up the BINUS Square billiard community. The event then began with the filling of Entry Ticket, and continued with opening words from MC, greetings from the Chairman of BSSC, reading of the rules, and participants are divided into several brackets. The event begins with the preliminary round, starting with 13 participants after two were disqualified for not participating in the competition. The preliminary round went smoothly. In the semifinal round, taking 9 people who had already qualified for that round, the semi-final round was still using 9 ball rules and went smoothly, the participants looked active, the MC was also seen helping to enliven the event. It takes 6 people who pass this round, 3 will be eliminated, advancing to the final round, there was a technical error from the committee in memorizing and recognizing the table number and directing the committee to the table, but the semifinal round still went smoothly as usual
The tournament starts with a single-elimination system until the semi finals, single-elimination system with three qualifiers playing together. The grand finals apply a round-robin format, in which every participant competes against each other an equal number of times. A player who wins a match receives two points and if there is a tie at 2 points, the winner is determined by counting the total number of balls pocketed in the 9-ball game. The first match decides the 1st place winner, then the loser of that match plays against the remaining semi final qualifier to determine 2nd and 3rd places. After the final round was completed, prize- giving and documentation sessions were carried out. The 1st winner received a tote bag containing a gallon pump and an e-wallet worth 100,000 rupiah. The 2nd winner received a tote bag containing a water pump and an e-wallet worth 55,000 rupiah. The 3rd winner received a tote bag containing a notebag and an e-wallet worth 45,000 rupiah. Afterward we held a documentation session together.
